Oncosphère

The Bordeaux Oncosphère project, set up by the University of Bordeaux in collaboration with Inserm, CNRS, Institut Bergonié, the Bordeaux University Hospital and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council, is aimed at uniting and promoting all the teams dedicated to cancer research in the Bordeaux metropolitan area. It is a collective project led by an interdisciplinary scientific committee of over 800 people.

The Bordeaux Oncosphère project plans to bring together the majority of its components on a single site, or even a single location, with the aim of creating a unique research ecosystem of international scope that will enable cross-community exchanges benefitting attractiveness, innovation, development and patients. It is part of the broader Nouvelle-Aquitaine Oncosphère project, also involving sites in Limoges, Poitiers, La Rochelle and Pau, thus expanding its research and development potential via the complementarity of the region’s other sites.

Prof. Pierre Soubeyran, the BRIO director, is also the Oncosphère project leader for Bordeaux and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. BRIO’s operational team is part of the Bordeaux Oncosphère steering committee and the programmes implemented by BRIO (chain of lab samples for research, patient involvement, etc.) herald opportunities for the Oncosphère’s future organisation.
